This is such a strange one. No one is wanted in connection with it.
Hopefully he felt tremendous guilt for his crimes and self inflicted.
Either way, nothing of value was lost.
No remorse for sex offenders. Ever.
– from a person who was sexually abused as a child.
Not defending the guy, but what was the “convicted sex offender” original actual offence?
Rapeing kids, or flashing in the town centre?
Okay, so when I hear ‘sex offender’ I’m thinking of the worst of the worst – but did he just expose himself? Like, not excusing that. But it’s not as harsh as what I thought it would be.
Reading some other articles they mention the guy having a severe brain injury and it gives the impression he cut off his genitals after he exposed himself to hotel staff and then breached his bail conditions.
The headlines on the other hand seem to imply a nonce or rapist got their comeuppance.
The danger here is that it encourages other forms of vigilantism…and there will be mistakes and crimes committed! EDIT:If it was self inflicted it should be reported as such ASAP.
Sounds like the main story here is on how our approach to mental health failed this guy.
If he would do that to himself it really sheds light on the crime that saw him registered.
The man suffered a severe head injury, so he is slightly different than your typical sex offender. This is someone who would have benefited from a functional mental health support team over custodial sentences. It might not be popular to say because of the nature of his crimes but sex offenders deserve just as much help to avoid repeat offences as much as any other criminal.
