The first time I went to Scotland, by train, we were on the outskirts of Glasgow and the window next to me shattered and I saw 3 scallywags, neds I believe they’re called up there, standing by the track and jumping with glee. Hmm, I thought, some welcome^(*).
^(* This is an anecdote and does not imply that the same or similar will happen to every or any particular visitor to Scotland, whether arriving by train, motor vehicle or any other mode of ingress, and should not be taken to mean that the Scots in general are a hostile race, indeed on the contrary apart from that incident I have found them to be open and friendly.)

What is it with trains that seem to attract the most unsocial kind of knobs to do these kinds of things
