Hello, Finland.

I’m the moderator of /r/bayanmusic, a sub for live music featuring a [chromatic button accordion](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatic_button_accordion#/media/File:ButtonAccordeon.jpg). This month I’m doing a spotlight on Nordic accordionists, which simply means I’m encouraging users, including myself, to post performances by Nordic accordionists, which I will tag with the flair *SPOTLIGHT: Nordic*.

What good Finnish accordionists are out there? Please let me know in the comments below, or post their videos on /r/bayanmusic (but please read the posting rules first).

Thanks!

  1. Marko Roininen from Väärä Raha is hard working player, with blend of Balkan sound in the mix.

  2. Maria Kalaniemi, The first winner of Kultainen harmonikka (The golden accordion) competition. Now she teaches at Sibelius Academy.

  3. Viljo ‘Vili’ Vesterinen is of course the most famous Finnish accordionist but I’m assuming you’re looking for artists that are still playing?

  4. If a lighter comment is appreciated, there’s a saying in some Finnish musician circles that a gentleman is someone who can play an accordion, but doesn’t.
