It’s saying that reserving a seat under the free travel pass option is not your ticket, the travel pass is your ticket. Probably from people turning up with their seat reservation details and no card to prove they are entitled to the free travel.
Is this for the train? I think it’s the fact you can use the free travel pass anywhere you can use a leap card, but that doesn’t include intercity trains. Leap car only works on trains in the greater Dublin area and maybe parts of Cork (not sure on that one). If you’re going between cities, you need a ticket.
You can. If you are travelling by rail you can book your ticket online, and print it out when you get there, or get one in the station, make sure you bring your psc with you in case they check tickets on the service you are using, and away you go.
Basically without the Travel Pass, your Travel Pass Only ticket is not valid. Which is entirely logical, otherwise everyone would try to travel for free etc.
