This is what politicians, especially Kokoomus, SDP are talking about when they want workers from outside of EU to have an easier time to come and work. They want to exploit the work force, not for humanitarian or other reasons but for companies to exploit them.

There needs to be a law protecting these people, just now one “company” is in middle of a trial and the owner is imprisoned because of basically slavery.
Thai people were flown here to pick berries and were accomodated in the most run down shitty old motel in Finland without heating and basic amenities.

We had a lengthy conversation about this at my school (we’re horticulturists). This method of hiring absolutely sucks. It saves money for the company and growers but the cost is extremely inhuman treatment, undercutting, exploitation and citizens not even getting the option for work because they knowvwhat the workload is worth. Our professors tried to say it was the better option so the prices wouldn’t sky rocket. All of us, students, said that the prices should go up then. If the industry is only sustainable when you pretty much have slave labour, then it shouldn’t exist and/or be heavily revised.
A year later, when a company thought i was an immigrant, because i was speaking english, they offered me a ghost cobtract for 5€/hr. The look of horror on that mans face when i unloaded onto him in finnish was *chef’s kiss*
Don’t vote SDP or Kokoomus on up coming parliament elections, especially if you are poor and without job.
SDP wants you to work as slave on minium social benefits. Työkokeilu, Kuntouttava työtoiminta
Kokoomus wants cut minium social benefits and make you work as slave even harder to get those benefits.
