A firefighter ran the whole thing in his turnout gear, then ran the NYC marathon a week later. I’m struggling to think of a better example of the difference between them and the guards than that.

Person cheats in sporting activity in their free time which affects absolutely nobody….the Gardai launch an investigation…what are they going to charge him with?? Will they fire him because he didn’t complete a marathon??
Even at this stage the fact that they have publically declared they are investigating this should get the guy down to the WRC, his employer is taking an over-the-top interest in his private life and using Garda resources to investigate things that have absolutely nothing to fucking do with them.
Obviously cheating in a marathon is fairly uncool and you look like a dick but when they don’t even have resources to police our towns and cities the fact that somebody is deployed to investigate this is insane.
