UK wants EU citizens to provide fingerprint and facial biometrics to visit

  1. And so it begins……..EU will probably want the same from us…tit for tat…. will our government ever stop shooting it’s self in the foot?

  2. How do this work as someone living in NI who only holds an Irish EU passport? Do I have to scan my face when I wake up?

  3. Is this not going to be required for UK citizens visiting EU when EES/ETIAS begins in 2023 as well?

  4. The UK already does it for anyone who needs a visa. The country has a database of everyone who’s every come in from Asia and Africa. Pearl clutching because suddenly it affects Europeans now.

  5. The UK has been doing this for all visa holders for quite a long time. The only thing new here is EU Nationals needing a visa

  6. Loads of countries do this.

But I am still pretty annoyed that thanks to Brexit we now have to go in a separate (often longer/slower queue) at passport control when entering EU countries, get our passport stamped, sometimes get questioned, and have a limited time to visit.

While EU citizens still appear to go through E-Gates at passport control in the UK – seemingly don’t need any stamps to enter or exit. And they don’t check or stamp passports on leaving the UK (at least at airports there is no passport control to leave – maybe they check it at the channel tunnel?). So seemingly they could stay as long as they want with no issues (at least from what I’ve seen).

Brexit was literally just stripping and restricting rights for us – no change for anyone else….

  7. It’s not the ‘UK’, it’s a small number of corrupt, wealthy politicians who have their own agenda for pushing this through.
