I created a map of the Brussels Suburban Rail network

  1. Btw what is the difference between S and IC trains sometimes I take train from Leuven to Brussel and there is different symbol on the app but I don’t know what is the difference

  2. Public Transport are so weird. It’s always complicated to go vertically, but difficult to go horizontally. I don’t understand why.

  3. So, S10 is crossing itself?

Also, I didn’t know there are as many as two lines stopping at Mouterij

  4. Cool map!

Where does the data come from? How was it created?

What is the background-map? I don’t see attribution for it.

  5. Great map! I just noticed two small errors:

    – The S6 doesn’t continue towards Aalst anymore (since today) and ends at Denderleeuw

    – Weerde station is missing

  6. Yet people refuse to simply park their cars at whoever station is the closest then take the train to their brussels office.

They would rather spend 1 hour of frustation in the morning and then another hour in the evening.

  7. What Brussels is missing is an outer ring S train, every 15 mins. This is actually something Francken is in favour of and of Dr Lijn fund it it would help mobility for both the Rand and the city

But NIMBY rules the roost in the Rand.

  8. I see that there is already a Leuven-Ottignie(Louvain la neuve) line. Why not extend it 360 degree to have a kind of “Rail-Ring” around Brussels. Even though it’s not the majority of the traffic, it’s absurd to have to cross brussels between Leuven and Nivelle
