My BF and I decided to cook some swedish meatballs. We are from austria, it was his first go on meatballs, they were delicious!

  1. The meatballs look delicious and the size is fine. Everything looks great, stop gatekeeping

  2. You even brought the pickles and the gravy! Your BF doesn’t happen to be Swedish by any chance? It just looks so damn on point.

  3. Servus!

Ich mache es manchmal wenn wir haben Besuch aus Österreich und ich muss sagen dass ihr habt alles richtig gemacht 🙂

  4. After all botched swedish meals I’ve seen on this sub. This, this I can get behind.
We are almost religious about our food. This looks heavenly and your boyfriend should be proud

  5. Great work!

Two things I would note though:

    – They are a little on the big side I would say. Most swedes would make them pretty small. About the size you get at IKEA.

    – The gravy is a bit light in colour. Usually we add a bit of soy sauce to darken it a bit.

All in all, looks amazing 🙂

  6. Looks nice, add a little bit of soy sauce to the sauce next time, just to make the brown sauce live up to it’s name.

  7. Såsen ser ju dock lite för vit ut..
Och ja, moset ser ut som en barnpuréspya!..

    Österrike levererar.. Adolf 2021..

  8. Looks great. If you want to switch things around you can add green peas, cooked carrots or a mushroom sauce. A child variant is spagetti, meatballs and ketchup (possibly with mustard).

  9. Oh! What spices did you use in the köttbullar? It looks great, but the mash looks a bit wet rather than fluffy (the key is a lot of cream and butter!)

  10. Noice! Gotta try some meatballs made from roo tho, that and some rough potato mash (boil em in salted water, mash them with the skin on and make sure thers some larger bits left in (there are special potato mashers put there), serve with lingonberries and some pickles/salted cucumber and Swedish brown sauce. Delish!)

Really happy to see people try our fairly bland kitchen, if you get a chance try some Swedish boar, deer, elk and bear, surprisingly nice imo!

  11. This looks supremely fine, it’s easy to tell a lot of heart and hard work went into it. I’m ashamed in truth, because you’ve put more work into these meatballs than I do on average, haha!

  12. My advice to wanna be Swedes are to make the meatballs too large for one bite, but too small for two bites 🙂
