Het kan. Maar het is financieel niet interessant. De kosten zijn te hoog en de risico’s te groot. Niemand wil dat nog verzekeren.

Snapt echt niemand daar dat het niet puur om of het “technisch gezien mogelijk” zijn gaat?
Ze hebben al keer op keer gezegd dat het niet mogelijk is om alles klaar te hebben van documentatie, bureaucratie, opleidingen, effectieve uitvoering, … in de verwachte timeframe van < 5 jaar.
Wil je echt dat ze de kantjes er af rijden bij een kerncentrale?

At the end of the day these are businesses and they’re run as such. Even if you ignore the gas plant subsidy issue, is anyone surprised a company doesn’t trust Belgian politics to not screw everything up or go back on their commitments? You’d have to be insane to consider investing in nuclear in this political climate. Which is a crying shame because it’d be an almost perfect way to guarantee a stable and affordable energy supply on the long and rocky path to renewables.
Let’s just get rid of nuclear, gas, wind and whatever. Return to monke and live in a tree. I’m sick and tired of having this fucking topic regurgitated on this subreddit.

“Fraid so. Dead as a doorknob, I only just found it. I’m very sad about this even if I never fed it and I need time to grieve. I hope you understand”
-“Sure buddy no problem. A bike ride could help you take your mind off things but I understand if you don’t feel like it now. You still want to go bike riding do you?”
“Of course I do! It was my idea, remember? I’m looking forward to it. How about next week?”
-“You’re sure you want to do this?”
“Definitely!”
-“OK, next week at 10 30 AM at your place”

One week later:
-“Hey, it’s 10 45, I thought I’d give you a call, you remember we’re going bike riding?”
“Oh err yeah, err, bike riding… You know, I’ve often wondered, what is it with you and bikes anyway? Never heard of a car? A bus or if need be a train? Why is it always bike bike bike with you? Are you getting kickbacks from Schwinn or what?”
