Is there anything more annoying than Donald Clarke taking an entire column to tell everyone just how blandly, right-on his views are. He veils it in humour, but really he wants us all to know how perfectly Guardian-ready he is. E.g.
– Fairytale of New York should be censored (anyone who says otherwise is a ‘brave free speech advocate’ he announces sarcastically)
– Recent movies are better than old ones (assumably because they’re more diverse or whatever)
– The catholic church is bad (wow, so brave!)
The man has not got 1 even remotely controversial or contentious (or original) thought, yet he writes like he thinks he’s Gore Vidal. Anyway, maybe I’m reading too much into it and maybe it’s my own fault for reading the article.
