  1. i think the 99% would have been a lot more successful, if it was a bit more defined. Like giving a clear cutoff point for wealth for example.

People do not trust the government in handling such a tax legislation. (albeit i admit people do not like fing around with taxes in general)

Not saying if they did that, they would have had a ‘yes’ (since again people do not like to f around with taxes), but at least the ‘no’ would not be as clear.

  2. The 99% initiative was pure discrimimation. We, the 99% against that bad, bad 1%.

The gay-marriage initiative was about ending discrimination. We, who allow marriage to a broader spectrum of people in love.

So, kinda win for everyone who is against discrimination.

  3. The main issue with the initiative was that it did not make a difference between capital income gained from stocks you inherited or bought with your vast wealth and stocks from a company you founded yourself and just so happened to become very successful. I can see the point for the first scenario, but the second one really would have enshrined a preference for employeeship over entrepreneurship.

  4. It was one of the most successful tax-initiatives ever. Changing taxation is hard already, getting 1/3 of the voters to agree is already pretty impressive.
