As someone that is only able to work part time due to medical conditions and have a benefit to up that on average is only around £300 per month. For a total monthly income of £1200. To hear these people were getting £7k per month and doing nothing to earn their fair share is why even I think we need to seriously rethink our benefit system.
What happened to that £26k annual cap per household?
Seems like a failure of social services more than anything tbh. People can focus on the £7,000 as much as they like, but that’s the wrong issue IMO.
Care services should have identified both the child neglect issue and the fact that the couple had problems that needed support/intervention to deal with.
IMO, a couple getting this bad, in both animal and child neglect, aren’t going to be dealing with any amount of money in a sensible manner full stop.
