If the Commission is really taking Orbans pinky promises here, they will be undermining the integrity of the whole union and the defense of democracy against fascist and other authoritarian forces in all member states.
So considering the track record of the vdL Commission, they’ll probably pay Orban a bonus too, for “solving the issues so quickly”. (0 Implementation time on promises you never keep.)
This is why the EP needs to be in the loop for such things, to ensure the interests of the people are heard, and not just the generally self-serving interests of the states. Especially when a Commission turns out to fuck up its job as guardian of the treaties so hard as this one seems prepared to.
Just in time so they can focus on their ties with Russia and Iran.
