To keep it simple, MGW is for weight and direction restrictions. All other signs are for MAW.
Ironically the C31 Sign (the turning one) isn’t even correct.
Well according to my dutch theory book atleast.

It is mentioned that the prohibition applies until I meet the first junction. What then? After the junction will there be another traffic sign?

It’s basically the same. Or a typo? Hard to say.
MAW seems to be when it’s about speed, and MGW when it’s about directions you can drive in.
Max Ground weight, Max Axel weight? Not sure, but that is what I read.
