Share of young people (20- to 29-year-olds) living with their parents

  1. 20-29 is a useless data set for this purpose. There is a major difference between a 20 year old living at home and a 29 year old living at home

It’s useful for comparing with other countries but 65% for Ireland tells you very little as there are likely 20 year old living away for college who will have to move home after college

  2. Countries that are on the low end have lots of cheap small single bed apartments.

I don’t see Ireland building much of those since every time there’s a development of housing like that, the opposition loses its mind that the housing isn’t fit for small families.

Single people are sick of living in shared housing with strangers. Many would rather a smaller space for themselves.

  3. Don’t see much point wasting all that money on a place of my own when I can just help my parents with bills and still have a warm bed and a roof over my head as well as enjoyable company.

  4. Gutted to learn that as of a few months ago I am no longer a young person 💔
Not as gutted as I am to be living in my teenage bedroom at FUCKING 30!!! It’s a fucking shambles…
