Keir Starmer: ‘We won’t work with SNP, we will defeat them’

  1. I’m sure the SNP are terrified of the branch office and their one mp. Utterly terrified of the party in a distant third and occasionally 4th place.

  2. Guess you did not see how the grudge against the tories is going.

And that Labour have a grudge of their own.

Plan on not more than a seat or two for the next few decades.

  3. Every election it’s the same charade.

Tories accuse Labour of working with the SNP.

Labour deny it and say they’ll outright refuse to work with the SNP.

Both parties do terrible in Scotland because they clearly don’t respect Scottish votes and we end with no choice but to vote for a mediocre SNP again.

All the while Labour councils happily work with the Tories anyway.

  4. Jfc kier is desperate to lose the election…

He chats **** about whats best for the country but wont ally with the SNP to beat the tories?

So he is lying and just wants power just like the rest of them. Get in the bin kier.

The left is fractured and will always lose… don’t take your measure from this sub. Lots of people love the tories.

Few low hanging fruit policies just before the election and theyll be voted back in.

    Kier has failed.

  5. Just let them go ffs why do we keep on insisting on this unhappy union, it’s clear Scotland wants to govern themselves in the short-medium term whether it will benefit them or not it’s none of our concerns if you don’t live in Scotland.

Ask any Irish today if they regret independence even if took them 80 years to prosper.

  6. Labour won’t be defeating anything, literally the only reason they’re even relevant now is because of how shit the tories are.

  7. Once again, the empty kettle rings hollow and loud, with reactionary overtones.

You don’t succeed in progressive left politics by “defeating” or going AGAINST other parties. You do it by defusing them and building coalitions FOR agendas that empower masses of people and reduce inequality and shape a future for people to look forward to.

What’s is Mr Starmer actually FOR that will change the lives of the masses significantly for the better? Not much.

That’s why he uses reactionary language. He is one. Barely disguised.

  8. Labour really do allow the Tories to set the narrative when it comes to everything. Earlier the Tories set the narrative on immigration in the NHS. What starmer should have said was that Tories have HAD to get forgiven workers and thank God for them…. Because otherwise the NHS would have collapsed because of the lack of drive to train our own population. Instead… Starmer made the talk negative around immigrants.

The same goes here. Why is he talking about how bad another party would be (who he aligns more with) when he should be pointing out that the Tories have had two coalitions and they were both terrible and set the country on a path to where we are today.

  9. Yeah. No.

Plus it’s a bit short-sighted if he suddenly finds himself in need of a coalition in the next election.

  10. Why, if democracy was important with Brexit, is it not important to work with the resulting winners of a democratic election, multiple times, in Scotland. It just seems stupid. It’s not like there haven’t been unanswered promises either to solidify some trust if you’re going to be cavalier in denying the SNP and expecting a lot of Scottish voters to rapidly change tack. The No campaign talked about offering devo max, 8 years later and nothing.

  11. Christ and this is meant to be the next prime minister. Uniting the countries is a big part of the challenge ahead of him, so someone should probably wind him in.
