Im really not sure theres any need to allow the public to buy fireworks.
Big displays are 100x better than Dave in his garden with 3 fireworks.
400 years ago some regicidal Catholics failed to make anything explode and were hanged for it. I do not understand why we celebrate this non-event with explosions and fire. And why are people so desperate to defend their right to do so in the face of such obvious harm? If Fawkes had a grave he’d be turning in it.
There was one fire in the whole story. Robert Catesby, a Midlander who masterminded the gunpowder plot, while on the run from the authorities after Fawkes’ arrest, was hiding out with some accomplices and tried to dry out some wet gunpowder before a fire. Rather predictably the whole lot went up and they were engulfed in flames but they all survived. They were later surrounded and shot.
Damn, this is terrible. Thank goodness no one was killed.
