It’s international mens day, so posting a reminder to all the men here to check yourself and take care of yourself

  1. Also important to check the chest area too! Breast cancer kills more men annually than testicular cancer. And for the love of God if you have bowel issues go to the GP!!
Lost my wonderful father who had issues for years but ignored it until it was too late.
    Stay safe.

  2. Told this story on here before but if it saves a life then I’ll tell it again.

A friend of mine in the UK found a lump, went straight to the docs who said it felt like a type of temporary cyst but if it didn’t go in a month to come back. 6 months later it was still there so one Friday morning he put on his big boy pants, left his work desk at 11am and went back to the doctors. He was sent straight for a scan at the local hospital, as he walked out the hospital door his phone rang, it was the oncology department telling him to come straight back in. They admitted him and in the early hours of the following day he became a uniball. By lunchtime they confirmed that the cancer was very localised and he got the all clear and sent home. On Monday he arrived back in work and his lunch from Friday was still on his desk yet in the meantime he had found out he had cancer, been treated and given the all clear which was surreal, but If he had waited longer to get checked again it might have been a different story.

  3. Well, I’ll ask here even though asking for medical advice on the internet isn’t recommended.

Can cancer manifest on the penis itself rather than the testicles? I have a lump/spot on the side of the base of the penis. I’ve checked my balls and they feel regular. This lump/spot also feels just on the skin itself rather than an actual growth on the penis.

It’s been a few weeks now but since I shave down there I put it down to it being possibly an ingrown pubic hair and brushed it off. Now I’m not sure.

I’m making an appointment to see my GP on Monday but I’m quite scared at the moment and I’m in my own head all day with this, I don’t want to worry my family, so I just want an outlet or something.

  4. Had it this year.

Aside from losing my nut – am OK and haven’t needed chemo or radio. 85% of people that find a lump need no further treatment than getting the nut out. I’ll have 5 years of “surveillance” where I get blood work, periodic CT scans and xrays to check for spread (every 6 months until year 2 then annually).

Check your balls, boys! Feel free to ask me anything
