The Goetheanum in Dornach (Solothurn)

  1. The Goetheanum, located in Dornach, in the canton of Solothurn, is the world center for the anthroposophical movement. The building was designed by Rudolf Steiner and named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It includes two performance halls (1500 seats), gallery and lecture spaces, a library, a bookstore, and administrative spaces for the Anthroposophical Society.

**Did you know that this place in Switzerland is so important for this “movement”?**

  2. Yeah, who would have thought that behind the hippie-cool Steiner schools and nature-loving Anthroposophic remedies, there’s a genuine sect with Scientology-level buildings?

  3. Is it another example of the Röstigraben or just me being ignorant?
I’ve never heard of it, but by the comments here it doesn’t seem particularly obscure.

  4. Its sadly the source of homeopathie. And thats bullshit. Also the whole organic farmerstyle comes from it and it calls itself more ‘natural’…

  5. It’s a massive building that can be seen from miles away so yea i’ve looked it up before. Pretty cool, haven’t had any bad experiences with the people.

No harm no foul if you ask me there are weirder people out there.

  6. I did. I think I was driving and saw it afar, thinking what the hell is that. Google-mapped it and went there straight ahead. Then googled more.

It’s a very weird place. But damn cool. Interesting to visit, indeed. I was truly impressed.

  7. Headquarter of a multi-millions euros/franken sect.

No thanks (Weleda, Demeter, Steiner schools, biodynamische Weine usw., Dr Hauschka, …) : a cancer.

Most of people do not even know they are supporting it.

  8. didn’t expect to see this here. i live very close to it, strange place, very cult vibes but the architecture is so interesting

  9. Where people learn to dance their names … i work aroun 2Km away from there and these “Anthroposophen” are crazy a.f. you can’t talk with these people, they know all and everything…

  10. Can someone explain me why those people are special? I’ve been reading through those comments and I don’t get it. I’ve never heard about them
