UK workers ‘will miss out on pay rises worth £15,000 over next five years’

  1. Give it 5-10 years more and British folk will be the ones emigrating to the likes of Poland and Romania for a better life and pay.

  2. My advice to any young folk nowadays would be get out. This country is f**ked. Maybe not irrevocably so, but so much it’s going to take decades to undo.

  3. And then, when the economy improves, you’ll be offered another shittier contract with more hours for an extra 1% pay. Then told the economy isn’t so good again, pay freezes for years all round! But not for the bosses. Profits MUST be maintained at all costs and rise infinitely!

  4. CEOs won’t. Shareholders will do nicely in many cases too. It will only be those at the bottom or in the middle who will lose out, as is always the case.

  5. And they’ll still get voted in at the next election because the stupid fucking cunts love Matt Hancock

  6. Dude, the future in this country just feels woefully hopeless.

Literally no idea what, if anything, to do about it.

  7. I moved to the USA 9 years ago and now have a lifestyle that I could only dream of in the UK. My mother in law has been bugging us to move back to the UK……not a chance of that ever happening, it would be a massive step backwards.

  8. I work in the frontline public sector role. During Covid we got fucked and didn’t get to benefit from furlough or WFH. Last April I got a £30 pay rise and a £300 National Insurance hike. Everything now is 11% more expensive than it was twelve months ago, and since there’s not going to be Northern Ireland Executive for the foreseeable future my colleagues and I are probably not going to get any pay rises or pay increment progression for years.

And to top it off inflation next year is still going to be mad and taxes like fuel duty and alcohol duty are probably going to skyrocket in April.

I’ve already cut back every bill as much as I can but I don’t know what I’m meant to do.
