European Air Quality Index

  1. This map is crazy wrong, I lived next to mount Etna in Sicily for 2 years and I currently live in Warsaw and the air here is a thousand times better.

  2. Easy Europe is generally colder than West plus it’s taken at 6AM in CET, so 5AM for a bunch of western Europe aka way less people get up.

We’re still shit, but the difference in the chart is overstated.

  3. Positively suprised with Skopje and Tetovo. Tetovo usually ranks as the most polluted city in europe while Skopje is second as the most polluted capital

  4. Bear in my mind, this is map of the **currently** measured air quality. While there is some persistent pollution in heavily industrial areas, most of that red comes from current colder weather and the resulting inversion. Two days ago, that map was much greener, including Poland.

  5. What’s going on in Utrecht Dutchies?

When I first saw the screenshot I thought, well, maybe Rotterdam, but Utrecht? There are no big industrial companies, is air pollution a regular problem there?
