GAA always wants money to rent out their stadium to non gaa.
Rugby and Soccer paid something like 2 million a match when Lansdowne Road was being developed and that was back in 2005.
PUC was supposedly rented out to Munster Rugby for cheap just last week (reports put rent at 200-250K).
That said PUC was during off-season while Katie Taylor would be mid-season for the GAA.
If Katie wants a Croke Park stadium fight she may have to accept that it won’t be the biggest earner. Then she can choose between the dream (home defense of a title) and the cash (big stadium fight elsewhere).
It’s worth noting that Wembley is probably cheaper because its a lot less used than Croke Park.
I’m sure Eddie will reduce the cost of tickets since we are covering the cost of renting the stadium.
Boxing isn’t as big a draw it used to be. Would they get 80k+ for it?
