Beluga (sturgeon) caught in the Volga River near the town of Tetyushi (modern Tatarstan), 1921. It weighed 960 kg (including 200 kg of caviar) and was more than 5 meters long.

  1. I’ve seen humpback whales and orcas in person but this picture gives me the creeps.

    It makes me feel like… I don’t know… something which looks like ‘a fish’ shouldn’t be THIS big, especially not if it lives in a river?!

  2. How do you even capture something this big? Fishing net made out of rope? Boats with harpooners? Small children as bait?

  3. Market price for Beluga caviar is roughly $7,000/kg, so this big ~~boy~~ momma would be worth $1.4 million.

  4. dammit that some big fish! But usually big fishes doesn’t taste as good as young ones, therefore it’s better to release them back to water.
