I could be wrong so please correct me if I am but I vaguely remember the government having a deal with ticketmaster so that it’s the only site in Ireland we can use to buy tickets to events (I heard this as a kid and only remembering it vaguely after over a decade)

Eventbrite and tickets.ie depending on where it is but think ticketmaster has contracts with most big arenas or music venues.
You’re wrong.
There are competition laws that prevent one company from having a monopoly. Allowing Ticketmaster to be a sole provider of tickets in Ireland is illegal.
Why would the government have an agreement like that?
The Taylor swift thing is mental tho. Is it the beginning of the end?
No easy way to say this OP but how stupid can you be to think that’s true ?
Thing is with Ticketmaster any band that has tried to take them on has failed. Look at Pearl Jam in the 90’s. They took them on then realised that venues, sound men, stage companies etc all had contracts with Ticketmaster.
I really hope their demand pricing system does not become the norm here.
