Here is the essentials: Digitec/Galaxus now shows you the price history of the product for the last 180 days. You can view the history by clicking the price or scrolling down the product page.
Help me to understand: Why is this news and why is this relevant?
i’m pretty sure the price graph is there since quite a while?
The price history has been there for a year I think, and before that I just kept items in my lists and noticed the prices fluctuating. For items I order on a recurring basis, I usually waited until the price was lower even before this price history graph. It’s nice though.
Most products I’ve been interested in had price graphs for a while now. Furthermore, toppreise had a price graph for a while and that’s, IMO, more useful.
Nevertheless, kudos to Galaxus for doing this!
I have seen this for a while, and the message for me is, ‘should have bought a few weeks ago, loser!’
Just use toppreise.ch
I’ve had that graph for over a month on my account
I use Toppreise, which also has price history plus an alert system when the price reaches the value you set. Saves some money.
Also worth mentioning that some prices are lower when you reach the vendor through Toppreise than google or a bookmark. My sound bar from Techmania was about 100 francs cheaper using the Toppreise referrer in the URL. Though I don’t know if Digitech does it or not.
I remember friend asking for a Digitec deal for a PC-tower which was on “black friday discount”. I send him a link to the exact product on Toppreise, showing him, that it is almost a two-year outdated product and has a record-high on Digitec (around 25% up).
He still bought it.
If old products are on discount, remember, the “discount” might be calculated on the release-day value and not necessary reflects the fair market price.
Now I am actually surprised Digitec etc. disclose their offering histories.

I noticed the following a few days ago:
Article is priced 30 CHF.
They put it up to 60 CHF and one day later back to 30 CHF and then they have it on their front page with 50% discount. How do i know that? I saw it from their price history. A few hours later the price history was hidden.

The dynamic pricing can be good but it annoys me.
