Jury fails to agree on verdict on murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan

  1. These were the options given to the jury…

He outlined to the jury the verdicts available to them; guilty of the charge of capital murder, not guilty of capital murder but guilty of murder, guilty of manslaughter or guilty of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility

Really complex case involving the mental health of the accused.

  2. Hold on a second. Gda Horkan was shot eleven times by Silver — Silver acknowledges that — but denies murdering him. What?

  3. The Garda was in plain clothes brandishing their weapon, shouldn’t we tackle people like this to prevent mass shootings?

Isn’t this a predictable outcome of having secret armed police wander around the streets?
