Edit: To clarify, the OECD figure for average annual wage is not age specific. I believe it’s a better gauge of how wealthy full-time workers are in a country than GDP per capita, especially in Ireland’s case.

  1. Wait till all the chislers, who are 16-24 now want to move out to their own place in the next 5 years.

Wait a decade and repeat. Think what shit box, coffin sized apartments with communal toilets/kitchens/showers etc people will be living in, paying half their income to a fraction of society.

  2. Doesn’t nearly everyone live at home? Where else would people live? I live at my home. My parents live at their home.

  3. Whoever makes those average wage stats needs to be fired, I personally don’t know more then five people making over 30 grand a year.

Do they like take some billionaire and then are like yeah numbers say rest population average hundred thousands.

Vs reality being those 20-30yr old unless highly specifically qualified in some field, rest making more like closer to minimum wage, and they spend most of that just getting by day to day paying few bills.

Surely otherwise making 50 grand while still 21-25 and then throw in couple they could easily have 300k in few years time, and buy something.

And even if making that money you need to live frugal non existent life to save anything, take someone getting their license and wanting to drive, that’s easily 10k nowadays just for ten year old banger and insurance to be on the road for first year, wanna holidays that’s another couple grand, by the time you finish with basic stuff you’d be out of years wages. And shit like driving or holidays isn’t lavish lifestyle, rather basic needs are expensive nowadays.

  4. I’m surprised you had to pull through so much data to support your argument. There is obviously a massive housing and rental crisis here. Everyone knows this.

  5. I always find it confusing when people say “live at home” instead of “live with their parents”.

By definition where ever you’re living is your home. I don’t live with my parents, I live with my wife. Our apartment is our home, therefore I live at home.

  6. Considering that statistic is running on the assumption of people earning twice as much as I do, looks like I’m back to waiting on my parents to die so….
