Goes to show the politician didn’t even bother to check with their local police if enforcing the law would be even possible.
Some of those kids are completely insane. A couple of days ago I saw two of them racing on one e-step, diagonally crossing a double lane road through red.
> Zo zouden we ouders aansprakelijk kunnen stellen, of de step in beslag nemen”, verklaart Rasschaert. De Gentse politie lijkt niet van plan om dergelijke maatregelen echt toe te passen.
Just take away the scooter? I don’t understand why they wouldn’t do that. It’s something both the kids and their enablers (parents) will feel.
What is the point of this article if it doesn’t even explain why they don’t use the tools they do have?
> “En, ook bij andere verkeersovertredingen kunnen we weinig doen.”
Interesting how this wasn’t too big of an issue, until these e-steps showed up.
Isn’t this what GAS fines are essentially created for?
And with the new e-skates just around the corner, stormriders wil rule the streets and cops be left in the dustt 😬
The odds of running into a cop in Ghent are negligible. I wonder why they do all day, to be honest. I know this makes me sound like angry yelling old man, but it’s just the truth. Police are not very present in Ghent.
Isn’t it the same with all other vehicles too? If a 16 year old decides to drive around in a car, what are the chances there’s a police check?
Happy 🍰 day
Instant impounding + GAS boete.
Fuck these fat little shits riding 25kmh on the sidewalk. They can barely see over the fucking handlebars, why do they need an electric scooter? Dumbass trashy parents.
They also can’t seem to act against street racers which have been consistently present in and around Ghent for years now. Can’t seem to do much about bike theft neither, or theft from private property even if you have camera images…
They did succesfully catch my criminal ass once though when one of my bike lights had gone out of battery.
Not very clear the rule about e-step in belgium, what the state of it?if they banned from public highway, where can they ride it?personal highway?
