A unanimous ruling as well. Wonder what Nicolas next steps will be.
So much for a voluntary union! Scotland haters gonna be so happy.
“you had a referendum.”
“Yeah, but what about second referendum?”
“Dad, can we get off the ship?”
“Hmm, let’s have a vote. There, we’ve voted to all stay on board.”
Minutes pass. Water starts to seep in, the boat is sinking.
“Dad, can we get off the boat?”
“No, we had a vote and we can’t have another one.”
No surprise, now Scottish nationalists won’t be able to try and do their own version of Brexit but even worse.
Significant changes were made and UK is no longer part of EU, were votes cast from scotland in brexit referendum taken into consideration? Wasn’t the majority against leaving?
Does Scotland have any Legal recourse left or are the SNP now going to claim that the ruling does not apply as they do not recognise the authority of the Supreme Court ?
I was really looking forward to them holding one and see Leave/Remainers magically all switching arguments with 0 self-awareness.
I think that this might even be the better option for the snp. They can complain now quite a lot, while at the same time saying their hands are tied.
Makes a re entry of the UK into the EU even more likely, bc if Scotland has to remain in the UK, they’re gonna be a driver to be back in the EU. That and maybe the NI protocol.
Do you really think English would let you go? 😂
Good. You had your chance. You made your chance. Deal with it.
Moreover, Scotland out of the UK and in the EU is just one way to fuck up your country more.
Go the way of the Irish, downgrade and diminish British instructions and then declare a Republic.
Do it anyway
Nothing screams sovereignty and self determination than having to ask permission to hold a fucking vote.
Scotland should do as it wishes.
French Polynesia : what do you mean you guys can’t have a second and a third referendum ?
Is it really up to that court whether or not Scotland can become its own independent nation?
So Scotland basically belongs to England…
**UK & most of the developed world:** “Lets hold a general election every 4-5 years because we understand people and opinions change over time, so it’d only be democratic to update who runs the country to reflect a change in society.”
**Northern Ireland:** “I get to vote on reunficiation with ROI and leaving the UK every 7 years if I want!”
**Scotland:** “Things have fundamentally changed in the 8 years since we held a vote, since then we’ve been dragged out of the EU against our will, and a single party running on the basis of fighting for independence has won both subsequent elections since then. Can we have another vote please?”
**UK:** No.

I’m personally not sure about independence, but I sure as hell support their right to vote on it.
Is there any law like in Spain, that they have the tight to not allow it?
Lord Buckethead said it best.”There should be a referendum about having a second referendum.” Not specifically about this but still.
A few facts for those who seem to be confused about this:
– Scotland was never conquered by England, the Acts of Union made the Scottish King the King of England
– The decision was not made by the Government but by the Supreme court- both the president and the deputy president of the Supreme Court are Scottish
