Diane Abbott MP: The government has manufactured a ‘migrant crisis’ to distract from its own terrible policies

  1. There’s nothing manufactured about it, unless Abbott wants to explain why Macron is somehow joining in on this distraction?

Maybe she miscounted the numbers again…

  2. Even though The Jungle was a huge issue in Calais for years, we have migrants making the crossing every day and even France acknowledges the scale of the issue?

The rhetoric used by the government and the media, and the actions of the government towards migrants is a huge issue and highlights exactly how they feel about migrants. That is an issue that needs addressing. Mass migration of people from poorer and unsafe countries is another (very real) issue.

  3. Channel crossing numbers:

    2019 – 1,900

    2020 – 8,438

    2021 – 23,000 (So Far)

Seriously Dianne? How can she dismiss this issue with a straight face? This is a problem that is increasingly exponentially and is not going to go away.

  4. There was a great article posted up recently that stated that most (~70% if I recall) of those risking the journey are eligible to enter the country legally, but through our own faltering systems and Brexit altering our relationship with the EU, we are seeing a jump in people trying to get here earlier (rather than waiting for months and months). We also take in far fewer than most other wealthy European nations and yet it is portrayed as an insurmountable “wave” of immigrants determined to “overwhelm” us. It’s both an increasing problem of more people taking the risk, and a massive failure of our Government/distraction tactic to hide the failings. So in reality she’s right, but also there is a kernel of truth beneath all of the distraction.

  5. Whether manufactured or not, the irony is they now have to fix it because they were so vocal about it.

And like everything else, they’re too inept to do so.

  6. All that Iraq, Afghanistan business was just part of the advance planning for their future terrible policies.

  7. I think she’s giving them too much credit. They lie, sure, and they manipulate voters by buying some people with brains, but I think there are reasons that people are fleeing their countries, and yes, tory cunts are responsible for, or at least have a hand in, profiting from it (think bombs to the saudis).

This will always be the case if you enable the bombing of people’s homes, and these smelly cunts have jumped on it after many years of sowing the “forins bad” rhetoric.

…but to have engineered it…nah, they haven’t got the brains.

  8. This from Diane Abbott, yes the same Diane Abbott who was pictured going to work wearing 2 left shoes , not only 2 left shoes but unmatching left shoes.

  9. Why would you want to fix the problem? We all know how enriching the economic migrants entering the country illegally are. Where would we be without them?

    Pray to stay for Caliphate.

  10. There are two things I currently hate about British politics. The current government and Diane Abbott.

  11. It’s not exactly manufactured as it has basically been going on the entire year in terms of rising channel crossings – but the periodic emphasis of it by the press does often coincide with other political events. Whether it’s because the Conservatives felt pressure from the right or if it’s them trying to distract from their own policies is a different question.

  12. Well yes. What part of the current incarnation of the Tory party makes anyone believe they are in interested in talking about reality? Their supporters like hating on immigrants so you better believe we are gonna hate us some immigrants.

  13. Oh man, did anyone hear how she pronounced the word terrible? What a fucking joke of a politician. Nobody who pronounces that word that way should ever be given a microphone, let alone an elected seat. This is what we need to focus on here.

Sorry, been thinking of switching over careers to British political journalism.

  14. The migrant crisis is a direct result of Brexit pure and simple. In the same way as covid wasn’t manufactured though it fell straight into their laps to cover up Brexit failures and now the migrant crisis has landed just right to cover their pandemic failures. It will catch up soon and they’ll have nothing to hide behind.

  15. How’s she expect to convince people of that when there’s endless videos of it being a reality? Seriously, does she think before she lets breath become words?

  16. Unfortunately the crisis is real and has been a problem for many years. But yes, it shouldn’t be used to distract from the government’s failures.
