I cancelled my gym membership because i havent been to the gym from 2 months. Can’t seem to have the time now with last month of college and working full time.
I’m vaccinated too.
How accurate is this headline?
Fantastic. They’ve started checking passes in my gym but don’t seem super strict on it. Hopefully they lock it down. I can guarantee the unvaxxed are also the ones that fail to spray and wipe down after themselves. How do I know that – it’s just common sense that it would go with the mé fein attitude.
This will be enforced by the corporate gyms like the Ben dunne and flyfits. The local privately owned gym won’t be checking this.

My husband owns a gym and the problem is, the government are making this seem like it’s Mandatory but it’s actually only a recommendation, the criminal justice act which this comes under only refers to places where liquor is sold or consumed.
Gyms are then saying they “have” to, and then refusing to cancel membership or saying they will freeze it, when they can’t do that. They have no legal ground. The government is once again making business owners the enforcers and the scape goats and people are going along with it.
My gym (small, independent, weightlifting classes only) now requires a vaccine scan, the exact same people are at the training sessions I go to so it doesn’t seem to have affected us.
I know of a few lads not vaccinated in my gym & overheard a few others proudly stating they wouldnt be seen in the gym from wednesday onwards. I don’t personally care but i did find it amusing considering that i’m 90% sure a good few of those lads are on steroids 😀 So they’ll happily inject test bought off the massive eastern european lad in the gym but those vaccines man….ye can’t trust them. Who knows whats in them…..
I don’t agree with giving gym staff grief but I absolutely agree with them wanting to cancel or suspend their membership. Why should they pay when they can’t use the facilities.
The bitterness of some people in this thread is a bit sad tbh.
FYI I’m vaccinated and go to the gym.
Some of these willingly take steroids but refuse to get a vaccine that will benefit them. Reminds me of the neanderthals outside that New Jersey gym doing push-ups.

Vaccinated but cancelled my membership because its a joke. Wasnt in my contract when I signed up, and its not even law so screw supporting businesses that discriminate. Home workouts are fine anyways, but friend goes to gym which has stated they won’t be enforcing certs so will support them in the new year instead
Well if they are being checked for covid certs and don’t have a cert they are as well to cancel.
So it appears that a lot of people weren’t vaccinated and now they can’t do shit without getting the vacc.

An unvaccinated gym goer is probably healthier and better protected against covid than a double vaxxed non gym goer

Was actually shocked to see how empty my gym is in the mornings now. Made me very concerned to know so many people had been going and probably weren’t vaccinated.
Also could be people who don’t want to be checked by an app issued by the government to go to a gym. Don’t have to pay membership fees to not go to the pub.

I almost had to cancel too. I have a valid covid cert, but my friends had to fake theirs, wasn’t gonna go while they were excluded.

I would 100% cancel my membership if I found out my gym was letting voluntarily unvaccinated people in. So dangerous. Not just because they’re unvaccinated, but because the people skipping the vaccines on principle are skipping most of the other safety protocols too.
