That’s very sad. It is good to see it reported in a mainstream newspaper though. Not talking about these rare and tragic cases solves nothing and actually breeds conspiracy theories.

In 5 or 6 years time we’re probably gonna see a good few cases where compensation is handed out, like the swine flu vaccine.
Tragic loss for the family. Has there been a cause of death confirmed or do we know any more about what line of inquiry they will follow? Allergic reaction to some part of the vaccine maybe?
Absolutely horrific.
A neighbour of our lost their baby a few years ago. Brought to doctors with an ear (I think) infection and prescribed pinnamox or one of those penicillin drugs. Started having seizures after they gave her the stuff, had an extreme allergic reaction, and died shortly after. Doctor or parents had no way of knowing the baby was allergic to penicillin.
What’s unfortunate, in this instance, is that now these deaths will be weaponised by the anti vaxx nuts in a “we told you so” rhetoric.
Wasn’t there an inquest in Castlebar last year (possibly this year) in relation to a death following a covid jab, where the Burkes showed up shouting in the court demanding certain information be released, or some shit like that? Can’t imagine how distressing that must have been for the family of that girl.
Very sad for the family. Unfortunately, a small number of deaths in relation to a new medicine isn’t entirely unexpected. Humans are so complex, that there are extremely few substances that are perfectly safe for every single person.
It’s just deeply saddening, that this young lad’s death happened, whatever the reason.
Was there anything within the vaccine that he reacted poorly too. Just wondering what exactly set him off.

You could make the same argument in relation to a pint. How many people die three weeks after a pint.
Horrible for the family but there will always be people allergic or reactive to any medicine, it does not mean in any way, shape or form that this medicine in itself is harmful.
Tough on that family for sure. Good to see it reported though. IIRC there’s a group suing the British Government regarding wrongful death and injury caused by covid vaccine administration. So it’s not just here.
