Hi r/Polska, sorry for writing in English, but I’m happy to share that I’m officially a Polish* Citizen ๐Ÿ™‚

To give some context, I’m a 28 year old jewish dude from Argentina, my great grandfathers escaped from WW2 to Argentina where they settled in one of the poorest neighborhoods at the time. I’m extremely happy to reconnect with my roots and I wish one day to have the opportunity to go there and get to know Varsovia, where they emigrated from.

Sorry if this post is shitpost or a bit useless, just wanted to share the news since I’ve been following this sub a few months ago even though I don’t understand a word in Polish lol

Nah bro, it’s awesome! Definitely do come and check out Poland. It has it’s problems but also a lot of good stuff. And you know – it would be weird to be official polish citizen and never even see any Poland. Varsovia is the biggest and richest city in Poland so I think you’ll enjoy it.

And how’s life in Argentina right now? We hear a lot of news from Europe and USA, but very little from South America. It would be great to have some cultural exchange of subreddits or something but alas, mods of our sub are lazy bastards so that’s not going to happen. Is it tough right now where you live?

  2. Congratulations!

Out of curiosity, if I understand you correctly, you still live in Argentina? What made you seek the Polish citizenship and was it a difficult process?

  3. Congrats! You can now vote and help us get PiS out of position of power in 2023 elections.

  4. Hey could you dive in little bit into the process? My wife has polish roots too. Her grandparents were Polish citizens while her father never got one. Any suggestions?

  5. Oh, I’m so sorry this happened to you. Luckily you still have 14 days to appeal this decision, as it says on the document. Do it while you can, I for sure wouldn’t want a Polish citizenship! /s

Congratulations OP! While you say you’re not planning to move to Europe, a Polish passport is still pretty strong and a nice to have; may it serve you well in the future!

  6. Congratulations mate!

Hopefully you will also visit us here one day!

Also if it’s not a secret – how did the whole procedure of gaining citizenship worked? You had to prove something?

  7. Good. So now we can conscript you for the privilege of dying heroically for your motherland? ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Argentina! It once again gives me those thoughts how far we can wander for better life. And that maybe our descendants will come back one day. Feel invited to visit us!

  9. Congratulations! I’m also from Argentina and my mom’s side is almost entirely Polish. We’re trying to get our citizenship but we’re having a lot of trouble (thankfully, my grandfather recently found his dad’s birth certificate, which might be a huuuge step forward). I really hope we can get it, and also, I really hope I can visit Poland someday.

Wiฤ™c ucz siฤ™! ๐Ÿ™‚ If you want, I can ask my teacher if she has any open slots for new students, or if she has any other teachers she can recommend.

  10. You are Polish since day 1, but any time is the right time to share this great news, brother!

    > though I don’t understand a word in Polish lol

This is fine! But is there anything Polish about you? Like food, culture, anything?

  11. I wish more people with polish Jews ancestry would reconnect with Poland. Itโ€™s definitely a part of our country thatโ€™s missing.
