As Murphy spoke using a microphone, shouts could be heard from the crowd including “plantation” and “this is our country”.
When Murphy said that the asylum seekers in the building were not the enemy, there were further shouts from the crowd, including “they are the enemy”.
A second speaker then began to speak, but was interrupted by chants of “get them out” and further shouts from the crowd.
This person began to share known online conspiracy theories, at one point saying: “there’s a plan to replace the Irish”.
They seem nice.
The absence of any policy, information, or PLAN from the Irish government for years has made this inevitable.
We won’t be grand after all.
These people are so embarrassing, flying the Irish flag thinking they’re fighting against some enemy, simple idiots
I read that an NIMBY came to mind.
Who is actually in the building? I can’t tell from the article but it’s quite long so I might have missed it
They should be protesting in front of every multinational trust fund property management company!
They are the true robbers of future of Ireland.
But that’s too difficult to understand for these meatheads!
Four years ago, people in Roosky complained that they ‘weren’t consulted’ about a plan to move 80 asylum seekers (25 of them kids) into a local hotel.
In East Wall, they’re complaining that they’re ‘weren’t consulted’ even though a local councillor has said that the department informed local councillors about the plan to house asylum seekers at the property ages ago.
You could plaster the entire place with billboards and posters, telling everyone that asylum seekers are moving in, and you’ll still get fucking dopes saying ‘weeez wurn kunsultid’. It’s a pretty much a dog whistle now. It really means ‘I don’t what any asylum seekers or refugees whatsoever.’
I’ve no issue with migrants going in there… But why not offer some places to Irish homeless too? Plenty of them in Dublin City centre nearby. Why not?? Why is there no offers for some homeless people, especially in winter, to be offered some of this emergency accommodation? Please give me reasons as to why this can’t be done. That’s what baffles me.
Also, before you downvote… There are many homeless kids and families in Dublin City and around Ireland, many are just good at staying hidden.
Many people were bussed in for this protest.
Most people there aren’t “concerned residents”
These protesters are a national disgrace.

A plan to replace the Irish? By who, government? Lads, we can’t even sort health or housing amongst a load of other things. Where do they think we’re suddenly gonna get the organisational and implementation skills to pull off a plan of this scale? Shir it would take us another decade at least to fill the middle management roles that are required to run a job like this. I’d love to live in an Ireland where these bam pots do that is so ultra efficient.
But but but Ireland doesn’t have a racism problem 😳🤡🤡
Also heard: “It’s OUR social welfare. Stop giving it away.”
Dickheads. Imagine escaping a warzone to be confronted with these thugs
I think it’s disgusting they’re protesting these men. If they were Ukrainian men no one would bat an eye. In my opinion this is all down to race, it’s because they’re men from the Middle East or Afghanistan or somewhere that they’re not welcome. They’ve probably lived through a war zone, being put through worse than some Ukrainians, have been in some asylum camp in Ireland for at least 5 years and as soon as they get housing they get protested against. Give them a break.
I do agree someone in politics should’ve mentioned something but don’t protest against these men who had no choice in where and when they’d get placed
It’s funny to see the people of East Wall care about their area. The place is a kip, very few people who live their contribute to the community. If they cared more about cleaning their streets up instead of keeping asylum seekers out it’d be a nicer place
I’ve scrolled through the comments and not one has actually just presented what actually happened to make these ‘protests’ larger than your standard nationalist mob.
This all started when some woman on tik tok recorded and ‘interviewed’ a load of young men, some from Georgia, Armenia etc who got off a bus and filed into the building. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFHUDW6g/
I believe the reason these people are pissed off and have attracted nationalists is that they were sold the ‘woman and children fleeing Ukraine’ line which is fair enough. The people in the video are clearly not woman and children fleeing war, they’re economic migrants which is totally different. One of them from Georgia admitted this.
The absence of mainstream media talking about this has created a void filled by tik tok of all platforms! The results, a bunch of finger pointing online and no answers from the government.
That’s what has happened if anyone wants to know. Going to be downvoted but I think its important to look at what actually sparks of these events.
This cunting protest had me walking 2 and a half kilometres to catch my bus after work as it disrupted transport in the area.
Had to walk by them, witnessing the chant of “get them out”. There were children under 10 years of age present who were also shouting this vile chant.
Absolutely surreal, fever dream stuff.
The only gain they have from protesting outside the asylum centers is flexing their racist hatred to intimidate the asylum seekers. Gross cunts.
they should all be deported, the majority aren’t from wartorn countries and skipped many safe European countries before arriving here. People need to follow the rules of immigration visas, if they don’t then it’s just a free for all?
typical dublin junkie welfare robbing scum

get them out and the European asylum seekers in
These people have genuine concerns, they are well within their right to protest
well they literally promised this would be used for social housing for local residents, in one of the most unafforable cities for housing in the eu, I’m not really surprised they are pissed off.
From what I’ve gathered over the last couple of years everyone is pro refugee until a centre is set up in their locality and any opinion against one in your area lumps you in with the far right who hijack the issue. I have my own opinion on this (from experience and interaction with people involved in these centres) which is met with opposition from left and right wing . Sensitive enough issue and doesn’t seem to be a clear solution
Would it not make sense to protest the government buildings? And not the people who are potentially fleeing persecution?
It’s really funny to be from East Wall of all places and complaining about people scrounging off the state or getting free houses if that isn’t all of your neighbours already.
If you ever want to read comments from the most embarrassing Irish, leftist / globalist fools come to this group, it seems they want to defend everyone and thing apart from their own irish people, What a weird bunch yous lot below the border, see until there’s not one Irish man/ woman or child sleeping rough on the streets of Dublin send all them unemployed African/ Eastern Europeans back to where they came from simple…
Its mad i happen to be friends on social media with two of the idiotic attendees

Irish people have to beg for everything from the government while forigners get given everything.
This is a woman whose never worked a day in her life, with three “notorious” “gangster” children whove also never worked. All secure in their council houses with their permanent dole life.
We live in a country where the policies in place are suppose to suppor everyone who needs it. Weather your never a tax paying citizen or a scumbag, or a refugee or am upstanding broke ass citizen..
These uneducated entitled little ticks are the bain of society not the fucking asylum seekers. Id put my money on any asylum seeker trying to get a job over any of these poxy CRETINS.
GO HOME SHARON and be quiet
Ye can call everyone conspiracy theory right wing Nazis or whatever, seems like everyone on Reddit don’t leave their houses , if I was from from Dublin , I’d be sickened at what it has turned into… Take a walk through Dublin and it’s a foreign place altogether, alot of Dublin natives probably have homeless relatives or that got addicted to drugs due to homelessness, then you see Albanians and Georgians hanging around smoking fags in Dublin 1 ( Albanians are known to sell drugs too btw ) and they will be housed within 4 months … They are probably laughing at how soft this country is, can you imagine we went to Albania on a bogus asylum claim and took houses from the natives ? They wouldn’t be outside the building… They would be inside dragging us out , probably with the help of the police .
A lot of people here seem genuinely confused between, immigrant, refugee/asylum seeker and migrant workers.
Like everything in Ireland corruption is rampant, something is going on lads and labelling everyone as right wing or racist does not help 😣 our government is fucking up again and no one in power is talking about it, power of paper, radio, tv is gone.
Most of our parents emigrated and returned to Ireland to raise families, some never returned, they emigrated and were immigrants.
The Ukrainians are refugees fleeing war, we will provide until they can safely return home
Asylum seekers are seeking asylum from their own country, so they flee, they should seek asylum in the first country they arrive at, are they choosing Ireland maybe a possibility, we have a beautiful country, no problem but they are placed to be vetted/it is our government of course who are messing up by not getting paperwork moving quicker, instead they keep taking more, where are they putting them/how many. Direct provision centres are surely a human rights violation (bad conditions in some) and a big problem in small communities (live in small place, maybe someone else can comment there experience)
Migrant workers come here to work, they contribute to our society/tax system etc.. they fill a need like Irish workers did during our recessions when people went to England etc.. to work
I don’t know what is going on up in East wall but surely it is better that we hear about these things than not, maybe it will make the powers that be consult with communities before putting large numbers of people into areas that maybe arent suitable(read somewhere that killarney are having trouble, before i get jumped on, not sure if that infrastructure wise or what) surely discussion and openess should be what us Irish should strive for, we have had to many things hidden over the years
Saw them out there again this evening being cleared up by the guards, and heard one man say they’ll be back the same time tomorrow.
I’ve lived in East Wall a year and never had any trouble. I saw the live stream of the first protest, where they said they were protecting the local women and girls who’ll be afraid to walk the streets with these men living here. I haven’t worried about walking alone in the dark before, but these protesters give off such a threatening vibe, they’re the ones that frighten me. I don’t want to have to get past a mob to go to Lidl.
We’ve come full circle. From “No dogs, no Irish” in England and the US, to Irish protesting to remove refugees from our country.
They should be ashamed. It’s not the immigrants fault that their lives have been turned upside down. Blame the government for lack of housing. Social or otherwise. Not these poor people outside their accommodation. No tact or class.
There’s immigrants I’ve heard of that have come from Ukraine that have tried to commit suicide since living here. They mostly want to be here as much as that crowd wants them here.
I’d love every one of those people in the crowd to go to Ukraine/surrounding areas for a week and see how they’d manage.
Irish people are starting to become villainous. It’s so sad to see us lose our spark and love of others. This looks like America. It’s so disheartening.
How much do ye wanna bet these people supported Ukraine back in February?
