That’s enough Internet for today

  1. In response to the complaints, Brown Thomas and Arnotts said: “FAO Schwartz is a world renowned toy store that has and continues to provide millions of children of all ages with wonderful experiences that fuel their imagination.

“Brown Thomas Arnotts entirely agree that the experience of adoption has been varied in Ireland, and we take on board the views expressed in the programme.

“To that end, we will today stop selling the FAO adoption dolls in all Brown Thomas and Arnotts stores.”

  2. I remember the days when The Osbournes were popular there was dolls being sold in Dunne’s of the entire family in all of there foul mouthed glory. Podge and Rodge had similar talking dolls too sprouting all sorts of obscenities and vulgar dialogue.

There would be a shitstorm of epic proportions now if that was allowed.

  3. Can people not differentiate between adoption in general and experiences of forced adoption? Plenty of children in Ireland are adopted or fostered, and dolls like that can help to normalise it for kids (maybe not at that price, though). Joe Duffy callers will never cease to amaze me.

  4. Brown Thomas would want to grow a set and stop pandering to the eternally triggered. Is this country going to cancel Cabbage Patch Kids now too?

  5. I was just reading a short article about this on a news portal and I feel completely dumbfounded.
People are mad because… of the word “adopted”? They find it insulting somehow?

I’d appreciate it if someone could give me some insight, there has to be some background story that I’m missing

  6. Sure sure! And how did it make you feeeeel caller? Would you say you were upset by it? A traumatic experience perhaps ? Sure sure

  7. Well, I’m offended. I’m not quite sure yet what by, but let’s see how the story develops and I’m sure I’ll find something.
