So I had the day off of work this morning and I awoke to find a small mouse scurrying across my bedroom floor. I was trying to look for him in the bedroom and then eventually I heard a rustling sound behind the walls for a good ten seconds and I eventually found this gap where I observed dust from the plasterboard coming out of it. The sound eventually stopped about 20 minutes ago. I believe this was either the mouse retreating back behind the walls or another mouse trying to burrow into my bedroom because I observed the plasterboard debris dropping out of the gap when I heard the sound.
Here’s a photo of the gap: [https://ibb.co/Zg4FvC8](https://ibb.co/Zg4FvC8)
I’ve heard of people use steel wool and caulk for mouse holes but I don’t know whether it would be suitable in my case? I have a metal brass sheets lying around and I’m wondering could I plug the gap using that in some way? I don’t think the gap was created by the mouse but I think he burrowed a hole inside the gap sort of.
Any helpful information would be much appreciated.

Mice is power. Your life is over.
Rioiiiiiiiiiide itshhhh
It’s over for you now I’m afraid.
Mice are extremely cunning and tactical. Their annexation of your house has begun. If you are to survive you must learn to live as one of them and try to blend in.

Get a cat. Better yet, two cats.

Try taking it to small claims court for the damage, and begin eviction process with RTB if it has withheld rent.
steel wool will only keep them away for so long as it does eventually rust.
You have two options. Caulk/expanding foam or burn the house down
Dog, cat or even rat will do a trick
Had a similar situation where the mice were coming in a small gap behind our stove. Used some expanding foam to plug the gap and haven’t seen / heard anything in weeks.
Steel wool or expanding foam. Just be sure he/she/it is behind it when you block the hole. A trap with peanut butter is also a good idea
The dirt of that corner
Take advantage of the fact that they are using that gap for access. Place traps along the skirting board baited with chocolate spread / peanut butter. Place it so the narrow side of the trap with the “trigger” is against the wall. That way mice travelling along the wall from either side will cross the trigger. Once you are no longer catching mice, pack the gap with wire wool and finish with caulk etc. I’ve seen them happily chew their way into expanding foam before so the steel wool is needed because it gets stuck in their teeth.
You do not want to have a colony of mice in your walls, so probably a good idea to put traps in other rooms / attic / kitchen cabinets etc.
First, consult this self-help video….https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcNMWo7e4Fc
I used polyfilla once and later found blood stained fragments where they had escaped
Why are you trying to block internal gaps? Concentrate on closing up any points of entry you can find from outside and on trapping any population that’s already in your house.
Cat
That isnt really the sort of gap you close up… that’s a space beside a wardrobe cabinet, the strip of panel to the side at the front is just cosmetic. So its not a hole the mouse has made and there is a large void back there under and behind the wardrobe running the full length. Is you wardrobe flush with the ceiling cause they will just up and out if you block that.
As others have said you should take advantage that this is their route and lay a trap. Its probably a few have come inside in the last few days since the cold weather arrived.
I have used steel wool and expanding foam before but would only recommend on an external wall or hole in floorboards if there is an underfloor space. That expanding foam can get very messy too when using inside and it is impossible to get off something so be careful if you go this route.
If you block that hole they will just find another way round as it is an internal gap. Although if its right beside your bed I can understand you would be ok with that.
Flamethrower is yer only solution
Steel wool. Order some off Amazon and stick it in the gap.
