Sunak urges bankers to limit pay rises in battle against inflation

  1. How will a limitation on a demographic with a low marginal propensity to consume help the “battle against inflation”?

  2. Not reinstating the cap that prevents the obscene bonuses? Just going to trust people to do the right thing?

  3. I haven’t checked but did he bring back the capped banker bonuses that liz truss abolished, or nah? Or is he just waffling to sound good while at the same time doing jack shit?

  4. i.e. lip service to the general public, “look at me trying to help”, while not actually doing all in his power to help.

  5. It barely counts as urges he just kinda says that he hopes that anyone in their position would show restraint. That’s hardly an urge.

  6. The cap on bankers bonus was LOVED by many bankers…

All it means is MASSIVE salaries that cannot be clawed back or deferred unlike any bonuses awarded.

1m fixed salary isn’t bad is it?

  7. Urges? I wish the government would only “urge” me to fill my tax return, drive within the speed limit and not take certain substances but instead they put actual laws in place to enforce those things.

  8. This guy has no idea how money works

If we can’t spend money THEN PRICES NEED TO GO UP FOR COMPANIES AND BUSINESSES TO BREAK EVEN

High tax doesn’t fix anything it just exasperates the issue because we’re struggling to pay for stuff like gas, electricity, food, fuel and rent/mortgages.

These are necessary for everyone but tax is done automatically WE CAN’T SAY NO

The more tax you take the lower our incomes are the lower our incomes are the lower our budgets become which lowers what we can buy in terms of luxuries like restaurants, clothes, accessories, games, movies, cakes and what not

Which lowers what businesses can make in profit so they need to charge more to make ends meet making the problem worse
