I see the campaign for redress is moving away from the mica label and are going for “defective blocks” as a catch all term.
It ultimately doesn’t matter what minerals or poor practices are responsible. Their homes are still falling apart.

The quarry owners should be doing jail time for this.
It’s insane how much of the built environment done during the Celtic Tiger is literally worthless. Whether it’s a bridge in Meath, houses in Donegal or apartments in Dublin. Castles built on sand, but with at least on sand you know what you’re getting.
I’ll never buy a Celtic Tiger home. Much better to buy a drafty 1970s ex-local authority house and budget for a retrofit than invest in the nightmare that would be a potential defective house.

Feel bad for anyone that went through the scheme already that might still have a foundation crumbling beneath the new walls
