Speculating, but I do know the Polish government is very active at tracking down their citizens who are wanted for crimes and flee abroad and extraditing them back to Poland. I saw a news report in the UK about it and they were loading all the Polish criminals into a military plane there to take back to Poland. Could be that.

Irish army are constantly networking , training and meeting with soldiers of other perceived friendly states.
As for the War in Ukraine , we’re militarily neutral in the sense that we are not sending lethal munitions across , however we are sending non lethal aid to the Ukrainian people and we will more than likely have ordnance units operating there in the near future for removal of UXO.
