Germany: Burial of neo-Nazi’s ashes in plot of Jewish scholar sparks uproar

    I don’t know how it works in Berlin, but neither when my father nor my mother died I had any way to choose the exact plot they will be buried in.

    Sure I could choose the kind of burial side, which in order determined the plot. But I don’t even know who was buried there before them.

  2. How was this even supposed to work? If the plot is considered empty but the headstone stays, where would the headstone of the new occupant be placed? I never thought these celebrity plots get reused; where’s the sense in making them permanent then? Or the headstone gets moved into a different location where it is purely decorational.

  3. Ha. I’m just amused everybody knows where the grave is now. Guess I’ll be paying my, uh, “respects” some day soon as well.
