England World Cup squad expected to fly to Qatar on plane named ‘Rain Bow’

  1. Literal virtue signaling, lmao

“Look we really care about the gays, but not enough to have a principled stand on the matter”

  2. I think going and being as noisy as possible about issues like this is the next best thing they can do after boycotting, which was never going to happen

  3. Still waiting for a so called news broadcasters to call out the religion instead of the country because that is why Qatar is against same sex relationships but they won’t because that would cause to much grief for them even if it’s the truth

  4. I assume all the people complaining haven’t bothered to read the article.

This is a standard Virgin Atlantic plane. [https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/meet-our-fleet.html](https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/meet-our-fleet.html)

It isn’t a special one for the world cup.

The FA didn’t ask for this specific plane.

Virgin Atlantic may have chosen this for whatever reason, or it might have just been a plane that was available. We don’t know so please don’t go commenting as if you know as a fact the reasons for this, and please, don’t go blaming the FA and the footballers when this wasn’t their choice.

  5. Hundreds of thousands of workers work in appalling conditions.

    Hundreds have died.

I really do not care what the name of the plane is.

  6. That’ll teach the Qataris.

If they ever find out that the name of this plane is *Rain Bow* they’ll be absolutely devastated.

  7. I hope no one in the England team, thinks that this is doing enough. This is barely even the Pride Washing Team USA is doing.

    Do ALOT better England.

  8. This is pathetic. They shouldn’t be going at all. If any of them had any decency they would stick two fingers up to the FA and refuse to take part in this sordid contest.

  9. Wow, actually impressive the managed to find the smallest most insignificant gesture that has ever existed. Gg

  10. Did you see the Football commentator hosting the last ‘Have I Got News For You’? It was hilarious watching them back him into a corner for taking the job in Qatar.

Also, Joe Lycett is challenging David Beckham to NOT take the $10 Million to be an ambassador for Qatar (i.e. Reputation washer).

Not gonna watch a single minute of a single game. Such a stupid idea to give it to Qatar. Clear to see the Sepp Blatter and FIFA is still grifting.

  11. People are more concerned about gay rights in an Islamic country than the modern day slavery the built the stadiums and hotels.

  12. This is bollocks. This is why football players don’t come out as gay because they’ll lose their job or whatever. Now, if they do it, they’ll get beheaded.

  13. So genuine question:

What would happen if England (or any singular team) withdrew from the tournament citing moral grounds?

  14. At this point, even talking about Qatars stance on gay rights is a fucking cover story for the fact they literally killed 15000 people to make the tournament happen.

  15. Send the last 3 seasons worth of queens from UK Drag Race on pitch in England based eleganza. Death drop. Go home.

  16. All these tiny little shitty gestures mean nothing when we’re still playing in the tournament and therefore still supporting the event

“Yes I went to Hitler’s birthday party, but I travelled in a car named the Star of David”

  17. Good on them, apparently the majority on this thread think them boycotting the pinnacle of their career is the only option.

It’s not footballer’s fault they corrupt cunts at Fifa organised this world cup in Qatar.

  18. Would be better if they hid Elton John in a giant cake where he busts out singing *tiny dancer* at the opening ceremony.

  19. that’ll show them…

this is the most hollow and empty gesture with zero impact on anything. what would be a real statement is not going.

  20. That’ll teach ’em!

What’re they gonna do when the Qatari national anthem gets played? Have a hand in their pocket with their fingers crossed?

  21. And still the socialist mouthpiece, Gary Neville, is heading over to stuff his already bulging pockets with dirty Qatari state money. Do as I say, not as I do.

  22. Yeah, you show ’em, lads! Those Qataris will be wiping away their outraged tears with all the money they’re raking in from this!

  23. So it’s a little petty, and unrelated to the topic at hand, but the fact that flag in this article is upside down upsets me.

  24. All problems, whether it’s racism, food poverty, the tory government, homophobic middle-eastern dictatorships, underpaid NHS staff or anything else you can imagine wrong with the world, is entirely the responsibility of James Maddison and Kieran Trippier to resolve. Jump to it lads!

  25. You can tell just how out of touch this sub really is with the country in these comments.

Demanding a full boycott of the biggest international football tournament with arguably the best team we’ve had in our lifetimes.

Go outside and try preaching that to any Englishman.

Yes, Qatar is a backwards shithole and has no business hosting any tournament, but it is. So did Russia and countless other hosts. Average Joe doesn’t give a shit where it’s held.

  26. Instead of just non stop poking the bear, and expecting footballers to take a stand because politicians have no balls. Why not just say “fuck your WC you homophobic cunts” and be done with it?

  27. That’ll show them!

Spineless cunts. If they gave a shit about human suffering they’d boycot the entire event. But they don’t care.

Don’t forget every one of them are millionaires, by the way. The bloody lot of them.

  28. Everyone’s throwing up their hands around this tournament claiming that they’re powerless to stop FIFA or Qatar, but if momentum had built around a boycott with limited, clear demands – compensation to injured/deceased workers and their families, workplace standards, etc. – it’s fairly likely that meaningful concessions could have been won. Qatar is drowning in cash – it’s not like they couldn’t have also thrown money at the migrant worker and construction safety issues if their administration seriously felt like it was a deal breaker or something they’d lose sponsors or participants over.

The fact that nothing was even attempted speaks to how devoid of moral leadership or integrity the modern game is.

  29. Isn’t our first game against Iran?

    Who helped Russia with arms…

And just voted to execute 15k people for demonstrating….

Yehhh…. Fuck this world Cup. We shouldn’t be going.

  30. “An character wearing trainers decorated in rainbows features on part of the plane flying England to Qatar.

    Unreadable.

  31. The funny thing Arab men are too gay to get the inuendo. I mean they kiss each other and hold hands, most are probably are in the closet, that’s why they are so angry all the time

  32. Why does everyone suddenly care about the LGBTQ community, when I didn’t see the same reaction when the WC was hosted In Russia?
