Also, [this infographic is a bit old, but in it you can check the progress of the Basilica’s construction](https://imgur.com/a/lt8OtVu). The tower that has been finished is Mary’s tower, at 120m of height.
That’s gorgeous! Not gonna lie though, it reminds me of a giant, stone Christmas tree, is it made like this on purpose, for the holidays, or is it permanent and a happy “accident”?
Worth every century of waiting
Spain on the verge of having a Religious Victory
Wow, it’s crazy to think of how much progress has been made. If that building could talk.
Wait, is it really fully finished? I thought we were still decades away from the completed church?
This gives me an itch to visit Barcelona again.
Very nice photo
I would volunteer on construction just so they can get it done already. It’s been decades of construction. It can’t be that hard..
I am an atheist and a secularist but I am so thrilled to see this magnificent cathedral get finished in my lifetime.
It is of such historical, cultural, artistic and architectural significance, and will be one of Europe’s great buildings for… well eternity I hope.
After 200+ years there have been so many people who have dedicated their lives to this building who didn’t get to see it in all it’s glory. What we (will see soon) is their legacy and impact on not only the great city of Barcelona but Europe as a whole.
I would love to attend mass there some day. Is the church open for visitors now or will it only be open once finished?
Gaudi’s vision is absolutely glorious. This cathedral is full of light and air. Even in partial completion, it is awe inspiring. The spires look less like Christmas trees in person, although there is an organic quality in the architecture. It rivals the gothic churches but has its own style and grace.
That horrible modern architecture…
When I went to Barcelona the first time my cousin said I had to go to the Sagrada Familia. I though, eh, it’s a church. I went anyway as I had some time and the lines were not long but I almost balked at the cost. It is incredible. Since then I have seen as many Gaudi buildings as I can. Maybe it’s not practical for all buildings to be this beautiful but they should all have one beautiful part to remind us what we can build if we choose to.

The unveiling ceremony was pretty cool, [especially the new piece “Magnificat” by composer Marc Timó](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaZXcvn2Tcg).
