The Tories love this, underfund the NHS so the public will lose faith so their pals in private health can move in.
That is so fucking lame. The folk in A&E should be cheered as much now as they were two years ago.
I work in accident and emergency.
I’m not in any way surprised by this. It’s a really shit place to be. Regularly it’s over 8 hours just to see a clinician. The old 4 hour target was aimed to have people in, seen, diagnostics run, decisions made and out the department within 4 hours. Now it’s 8 hours just to be seen. For the very first consultation. That might mean ordering more diagnostics, including rerunning blood tests. This means patient stays in the department can exceed 10 hours. We bare the brunt of this as the point of contact people see face to face.
I did lose my rag slightly one day and simply told a patient that contacting PALS (basically the complaints department) is broadly useless now. They need to be writing to their MP.
Were they saying ‘boo’ or ‘boo-urns’? They might have scalded themselves with hot water
I just genuinely can’t imagine working in A&E. Seems like a constant non-stop living nightmare just to do the job, and then half the time no one appreciates your work or the conditions you’re having to it under anyway, just pissed off that you couldn’t see, cure, and discharge them in the space of 15 minutes.
Typical fucking shameless behaviour of some people. There is a section of society who are fucking cunts
People shouldn’t be treated if they abuse staff. Simple as that.
Yes there are failings on behalf of waiting times. But that said, who’s to blame for creating that environment? Not the staff.
I’d never boo because it’s not their fault but as someone who’s been to A and E twice this year the whole experience was completely shocking, to be honest. Everyone was rude, waiting for ages (7hoirs and 4 hours before being SEEN for the first time)
I’m not surprised people are losing patience , there was some pretty gnarly injuries there that weren’t really being seen
That’s it people, gear your anger at the people who are victims of a broken system just as you are, not at the tories.
I guarantee the same people booing NHS staff are the same people who vote tory.
Sounds to me like they’re well enough to go home then
So all the Zero abuse posters in the NHS A&E departments are just wallpaper?
I agree the NHS is systemically underfunded, but that doesn’t mean to say that throwing more money at it will fix the problem. Another problem I’ve encountered is how obscenely top heavy a lot of services are. For example, my CMHT has two psychiatrists and NINE DIRECTORS.
Trusts need their books reviewing by independent auditors who will, no doubt, be able to show where the money is going currently. Once wastes on pointless managers have been accounted for and slashed, they can get a more accurate account of what funding is required.
My experience talking to random people – many many people for whatever reason do not understand what the government does.
Many seem to think that every time a service goes wrong – its the individuals doing the job that are to blame.
NHS broken? Lazy medics need to work harder.
Train strikes? Greedy drivers.
No milk on the shelves? Sainsbury’s need to work it out!
They just cannot put 2 + 2 together. Huge swathes of the country think vital services are failing because young people are lazy and they just need a good screaming at.
Its nuts they cannot work out to blame the people in charge.
I was at A&E on Wednesday with a kidney stone (never ever experienced pain like that in my life by the way) and it was so clear how much pressure all of the staff were under. People have a right to be angry but they are angry at the wrong people – they need to be angry at the government who are chronically underfunding the NHS. Those doctors , nurses and even the cleaners deserve our utmost respect.
Blame the Tories for purposely ruining the NHS so they can put more money in their pockets through private healthcare
are people fucking thick as shit. Yeh blame the medics for the systematic destruction of the NHS.
People need to get their minds out of Murdoch, Rothermere, Dacre and Barclay tabloids
What kind of wanker does something like that? Sad sad person
They do a decent job. They are always short staffed. The government is to blame.
One of the reasons I left clinical work.
The shifts when people are waiting the longest are also the shifts were you have been pulled in a hundred directions, made multiple frustrating calls to try and refer people out of the department, and most certainly haven’t had any food or a break.
The final straw is then having patients and relatives shout at you. I realise that I was just the “face” of the NHS and people had to vent their (completely justified) frustration. However I couldn’t help but take it personally and feel like I was failing them and I wasn’t good enough, even though objectively I knew the issues that they were frustrated about were out of my control.
Fucking cunts for booing medical staff. Bet these wankers were “clapping for the nurses” like trained seals and looking down their noses at those who didn’t. Bellends.
this makes me so angry and wish I could do something about it. I personally would kick these people out and refuse treatment, have some respect
Recently went to the A&E with my partner on 111’s advice due to a possible kidney infection.
We were there for 8 hours before someone told us that because there were no doctors, we wouldn’t be seen until 8am when they arrived for their shift.
I don’t blame the staff one jot. There were 6 hours of ambulance queues that night. This is the NHS collapsing after 12 years of deliberate underfunding and cuts designed to bring it to its knees.
How incredibly demoralising to the people working in these places
Clapping to booing. This country seems to have no medium-long term memory.
Booing the wrong people! Like really if you need this explaining your a numbskull!
Go and boo the twats that won’t pay them right!
From my experience of a 14 hour wait in children’s A&E is if you shout and staff and demand to be seen sooner you are in fact seen sooner which is a slap in the face to everybody sat waiting their turn
What is wrong with our society? Medics on duty are booed and firefighters are attacked whilst putting out fires.
In January I sat in A+E for 14 hours, in quite severe at times pain, waiting to see a surgical consult who kept being pulled into emergencies. I was miserable and feeling sorry for myself but not once would I even think to blame the staff.
You could very clearly see that everyone from the nurses, to registrars and consultants were stretched thin and completely pulled in every which way, but they were always sympathetic, and apologetic and kind.
What kind of an absolute twat must you be to boo A+E staff??
the tories are winning, making people vilify the victims of the shite government instead of the government itself.
Shame on those who booed. The doctors are NOT to blame. Save your boos for the politicians. Or, in the words of Barack Obama: ‘Don’t boo, VOTE!’
Who the fuck boos NHS staff?! Those booing dickheads are probably the same twats who keep voting for the Tories.
Don’t boo the people who are trying, boo the cunts who made it this way by voting against them
This is exactly what the morons in parliament want. Boo the NHS staff left fighting on a shoestring, cheer when we end up with privatised health care then what? Celebrate when we are bankrupted by a broken leg? Grim future ahead and so many people are falling for it.
Sick enough to go to A&E but not too sick they couldn’t boo the medical staff they had come to see.
Just what I was talking about with friends the other evening – it’s purposely being run into the ground to make people fed up with it. The more common that is the less people will mind as it gets declared not fit for purpose and replaced with private healthcare.
I had a cancer scare that I was seen surprisingly quick for earlier this year. When I was later having other issues that are likewise very serious I ended up having to be referred for private care, all because they couldn’t support the people in emergency that day.
We might get fed up with waiting times etc but the key thing to remember is that it’s by design; the Tories want us angry at the NHS – and not the people pulling the strings to make it be in the state it is.
The British public will never fail to astonish me with their stupidity
If you are well enough to aggressively “boo”, then get the fuck out of ED.
I hate what this country is doing to the NHS. And I do mean country – the Tories can’t do this without their voters.
Boo the overworked and underpaid workers struggling to keep their heads above water.
This country is a mess.
I think people forget that we are just so lucky that we can go and be seen by doctors and nurses without thinking about the cost in UK.
It’s very sad to know that this happens, it’s not their fault. And people should know that they are doing their best.
A massive problem in Emergency departments is the number of people who do not need to be there. The GP and social care crisis has definitely contributed to this problem as well. We have regular attenders who are on 400+ admissions in a rolling 12 month period. They attend daily, for no genuine reason whatsoever. Drunk in the street – send them to A&E. House uninhabitable- send them to A&E.
