Tories plan to train army to break strikes

  1. Because that’s what the army is for isn’t it?

If you need any proof that the one thing Tories hate more than anything, its working people who won’t do what they are told to, this is it!

  2. The PCS does have one advantage here in that it has branches in every corner of government. So if government has indicated that it willing to use the military to break individual strikes sector by sector, the thing to do is to take out so many front line functions on the same day that they can’t recruit enough scabs.

  3. Once you train the army to do other jobs the soldiers can fuck off and do another job, especially if it’s better paid and doesn’t run the risk of people actively wanting to kill you.

  4. Imagine signing up to join the army thinking you’ll go places see things serve your country and all that. Only to end up being a scab.

  5. This sub has a major problem.

I can’t find a single source for this other than the one linked by OP, which itself has no citations or references. Not once does it mention – even in as vague terms as “a senior Tory source” – where this information is supposedly coming from.

There is a story about the army apparently being considered as a temporary replacement for striking Border Force staff, which I would consider a legitimate use of the armed forces since guards are needed at ports and border crossings – this can be a life or death matter in some situations – and it’s a better solution than banning the workers involved from striking.

However, r/UK sees this unsourced outrage bait by a left wing shitrag and is fully prepared to believe without so much as a shred of doubt that the government is getting troops ready to storm hospitals and make the nurses go back to work at gunpoint. Jesus Christ. You look every bit as ridiculous and laughable as Daily Mail readers tilting at the latest claim about migrants in detention centres getting free gaming PCs or whatever the spurious scandal of the week happens to be.

Critical thinking is more than just agreeing with everyone who shares your biases and dismissing everyone who doesn’t. That’s not critical thinking, that’s the behaviour of a cult.

  6. Won’t happen. Political suicide, massively unpopular with squaddies, coppers, strikers, and anyone with a functioning brain cell.

  7. Just like Margaret thatcher brought in the special constables to topple the unions, I suppose rishi sinks is one upping that huh?
