Pro-Brexit peer Lord Moylan: Leave campaign “never claimed Turkey was imminently going to join the EU”

  1. The actual headline for this article is rather clickbait, so I’ll quote [Moylan’s tweet](https://twitter.com/danielmgmoylan/status/1596074478886584321):

    > VoteLeave never claimed Turkey was imminently going to join the EU. They said it was the EU’s (and Turkey’s) plan. The UK was funding Turkey’s preparations.

This was in response to [some fact-checking](https://fullfact.org/europe/turkey-likely-join-eu/) posted by fullfact.org. I wonder how many other Brexiteers will discover the joys of legalistic nuance, now that consequences are becoming more important than emotions…

  2. Well, to be honest they didn’t lie. As a Turk I understand it. They said Turkey is joining the EU, there wasn’t anything related to timeframe. I do agree with former PM Cameron. With this rate we might join in the year 3000. It’d still be true! But Penny Mordaunt lied about UK not having a veto. If Brits didn’t want it, they could block our accession or even chapter just like Cyprus and France.
