  4. Great result for the aussies.

    Just me or did the ref let a _lot_ of stuff slide in that game? Seemed like there was pushes and trips going on for the entire second half that weren’t called

  5. Wouldn’t it make more sense to have all the world cup matches in one single megathread instead of posting a new one each day, considering they’re barely getting any engagement?

  9. For as bad as RTE player was, for so long, I am very impressed with the state of the player currently. It used to drive me mental how bad the development was and how shoddy the infrastructure of the site was. Constantly breaking.

    I’ve been watching the world cup via the rte player since it started and it’s been excellent. Decent bitrate, and as smooth as a YouTube stream. Fair play to the people who have fixed a former pile of rubbish into a perfectly usable way to watch tv online.

  10. So I’ve been doing daily predictions (win/lose/draw) in a whatsapp group, and so for I’m top of the pops. I think the only calls I got abjectly wrong was Japan and Saudi Arabia upsets and maybe a draw or two.

    One lad is in the group but doesn’t take part. I was out with him last night and talking thru my predictions. He just kept saying “Denmark are a tricky team.” “Wouldn’t be so fast to pick France.” “The Danes can be a though lot.”

    Its 54′ in France v Denmark and 0-0.

    I’ve gotten 6 direct msgs (he didn’t offer his opinion on Denmark to the rest of the group) from him saying, “What did I tell ya!” “Looks like I’m right.” “You didn’t see this one coming.”

    I swear to God if France don’t win I’m going to end up murdering him.
