**But I’m not in Ireland, can I still watch it?:**

  11. Good fun as usual but I thought having the toy review kids doing little performative bits themselves was a bit much. Dragged out their sections when it could have allowed time for more singer/dancers/whatever. The ride-on section had about 10 foot to work with and was rushed through. Book time was rushed too. Usually enjoy seeing them nerding out about books.

  12. Absolute mayhem of a thing. Can’t believe other countries haven’t come up with their own version?? Criticisms aside it’s a uniquely Irish thing and I think something to be proud of. An absolute institution

  16. we aren’t Irish, so I’m not sure what exactly the show is about. looked like a glorified ad for certain toys?

    anyway, we watched it with our kids and it was fun just fine and it’s a big thing here and our kids should be in on it, but man the time was just not appropriate? does it always end so late? i can only hope it was so late because of the world cup. we watched until 12 when one kid feel asleep and the second wanted to sleep. gonna watch the rest today.

  17. Watched it this year for the first time in years. Where were the toys? If I was hoping to find something to put on my Santa list, I’d be pretty disappointed. Maybe it should be called the late late Chrismas special or something.

    That said it wasn’t a bad show, but a bit random with some performers getting “prizes” and some not. A
    Munster jersey vs a trip to Australia?

    And I’d agree, would be better without the woo audience.

  18. More the Late Late Kids Show than the Toy Show. It’s now person-focussed rather than toy-focused but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just not really a show about toys anymore.

    There was reference to toys at times but not explicitly. They were just there, as kids, sick or otherwise, were interviewed about their lives. Where and when toys appeared, they were incidental.

    I’m fine with all that (it’s for kids after all) but the show’s name doesn’t fit anymore. It should be the Late Late Kid’s Christmas Show or something along those lines, however a name change would be uproariously controversial so I wouldn’t expect that any time soon.

  22. I’d to put headphones on and listen to Spotify. I couldn’t handle the cringe. It’s like the X Factor now … the kids are over rehearsed.

  23. Maybe an unpopular opinion but for me that was the worst toy show I can remember. Didn’t watch many Pat Kenny’s or early Ryan ones only when I was young and have had kids. But yeah worst one ever

  25. I used to enjoy the Toy Show……Now its just a cringy 2 hour plus scripted, cringe musical.

    Couldn’t bear it last night it was never-ending.
