I found this in my doorstep and I don’t know what to make of it. Is it some sort of game that neighbors play? Or should I wear a face mask because I reek of garlic?

I live in Berlin if that makes a difference and in my building live mostly elderly german people.

  1. Someone dropped some random stuff out of their pockets.

    Then note says garlic (probably a grocery list) and everyone knows what a mask is

  2. There are some elderly german people who don’t really eat garlic and are pretty sensitive to it. So it could be a weird way to complain about the smell, even if you consume only tiny amounts. But I would still ignore it if you don’t cook an absurd amount of it every day.

    Edit: Also sometimes people complain about garlic smell just to be racist. My dad looks turkish/greek and often had this happening to him when he was working with elderly patients when he first came to germany. It didn’t really matter whether he had actually eaten garlic that day.
