As a degree?! Why not just work at a boutique hotel for a year?
I don’t belive it. As a foreigner, I came with a visa in my passport and at the uk border they asked me “why are you coming here?” I answered “to live and work, here is my visa and the letter from the Home Office granted my residency” no problem at all. they can’t refuse your right to enter, except if there is new evidence over your visa, such as drugs in your luggage. They don’t double check your reasons to live here, it’s not like a tourist visa.
>he was interrogated about intricate details of his course, including being asked to list the titles of the six modules he would be studying..
“intricate deatails”! to be fair, im sure lots of students dont know what half their course is, but i find the framing of these sob stories by the guardian laughable.

As a Brit I’m profoundly sorry for everyone who’s been treated like this when coming to my country. The only consolation I can give is that you dodged a bullet, it’s a complete shit show and you’re better off not wasting your time and money with us.
Unfortunately there are loads of dodgy fake “universities” that provide “students” with paperwork saying they’re attending courses that don’t exist, so Border Force are right to investigate. But it shouldn’t have taken 12 days.
This really is appalling and the university should have done more to accommodate the exceptional circumstances the student had to face through no fault of his own.
In fact I’d suggest anyone else who is annoyed by this to email the university’s admissions office and complain
That’s awful really, poor guy,.sorry this happened to him
>As well as asking Khadka to list modules in his course, Border Force accused him of having fake documents, citing a spelling error in a letter from his bank in Nepal as proof, and adding that it was “inconceivable” that such a “prestigious financial institution” would issue documents of “such risible quality”. Almost immediately afterwards, the Border Force letter itself makes several spelling mistakes. “You have liittle [sic] knowledge of your porposed [sic] course and I am therefore drawn to the conclusion that you have little or no interest in it,” it says, misspelling “little” and “proposed”.
Fucking Hell. What a miserable little shit hole of a country we are.
>When he arrived at his university campus in York on 24 October, he was told it was a week past the late enrolment deadline and that his sponsorship had been withdrawn so he would have to return next year.
Why can’t they just enrol him late? I enrolled late during my first year because I didn’t have have my slip proving my exam results. I couldn’t use most of the Uni’s facilities until I was fully enrolled but I least it meant not wasting the whole academic year.
As a (recent)international student this tears me up, should have never happened. On a good day so d probably only remember half of the modules I did that’s after starting university. Not able to cite intricate course details before is an absolute appalling reason to deny.
This is not a ‘mistake’ it’s by design, they knew he was here legally still detained him even after Uni proved it. My partner from Brazil came to UK to study as LSE ended up getting a German passport because they tried to deport her. The stories are endless, these people pay £10k their life savings to come here are treated like absolute shit throughout by the Government and by the Unis. Also a side note even though my partner now has right to remain every single time we come back from Brazil she gets questioned why she is here. Breaks my heart to hear her say “because it’s my home”. They dont a fuck rotten culture through and through at home office and border control.
It’s fucking shameful. The people of Nepal are good enough to fight in our military but not good enough to study in the country.
If he had come in a dingy he would be at Uni and have free accommodation and a daily allowance card.
I was asked to provide a residence permit as an EU citizen under the settlement scheme. Tried to explain that document doesn’t exist under this scheme and there is no such evidence I could show. Got told I’m wrong and NOT to argue about
So sorry that this has happened to this young man… having said that this country is accelerating down the shitter ever since it was hijacked by fascists and aided by the significant number of village idiots who put them there.
Not to mention the massive amount of debt he has back home which are non refundable 🙁
> Asked why the university had not held Khadka’s place open for him in the exceptional circumstances, the spokeswoman said that it had been required to report all non-enrolments to the government on 17 October. “On this date, Sulav was still in detention in a holding facility and we understood that he was being returned to Nepal,” she said. She added that starting the course late was “not in a student’s interests”.
Bullshit…it’s first year of a hospitality and tourism course, it’s not that difficult to catch up.
Poor guy 😥
A proud moment for Suella Braverman and everyone who votes Tory or voted for Brexit. A fucking embarrassment for the rest of us.
It’s fairly common with the levels of incompetency of border staff at the airports
University of York: Pay us £20k a year to study.
Also University of York:
Why is this country so incompetent with stuff like this
